Supported Spindles

Unless otherwise specified, all supported spindles feature a Dymalux (resin stabilized Birch plywood) shaft which reduces wear to the spinning tip and provides strength to the tapered shaft. All supported spindles are rigorously tested for spin and balance. They often feature a counterweight in the whorl to compensate for natural weight imbalances in the wood. Unless otherwise specified, the counterweight is always placed in the underside of the whorl, and great efforts are made to camouflage the placement of the counterweight so that it blends in as much as possible. While viewing photos, any counterweighted spot will be oriented at the upper edge of the whorl in the next-to-last photo.
